Review of the Function of Beauty Custom Haircare
If you haven’t heard of Function of Beauty custom haircare, have you been living under a rock?
No just kidding, they are very popular in the beauty community of Instagram but that doesn’t mean everyone knows about them. But if you”re here then that means that you are curious about this brand.
2 months ago I received from them the custom haircare line and also their newest launch, the body care. This post is simply me telling you my honest opinion on them, I had no obligation to write it. The exchange between me and the brand was their products for an Instagram review.
Anywho lets get into it.

What it is?
Function of Beauty is a brand that offers custom shampoo and conditioner, as well as leave-in product, hair mask, hair oil, hair perfume, and now also body wash and body lotion.
The order goes something like this: you fill in a quiz about your hair type and dill out 5 goals that you want to achieve with the product. You can choose the colour, fragrance and size of the bottles. You then can opt for a subscription or a one-time order.
How do I know all of this? Because I previously ordered these products myself. Yes, I tried them before the brand approached my Instagram page. And I hated them. Truly. But I since realized that it was my own mistake because the hair type I entered was completely wrong. I wrote wavy and coarse, and my hair is far from being that.
Just like skin, hair can be a tricky thing.
But I gave them a second chance because ever since that fiasco I realized a few things. I have very thick hair, and it’s medium, and it’s curly if I give it the chance. And throughout the 6 months period in between testing the two sets of Function of Beauty, I bought a few products to test out my theory that I have curly hair, and they worked out wonderfully.
So in the second round, I changed my hair type and goals and received the new set of shampoo and conditioner. And you know what?
Function of Beauty custom haircare line
I absolutely love it! I am astonished.
My hair isn’t the shiny mane I want it to be, but it is the softest and most moisturized it has ever been. I love passing my hand through it. And it works out if I leave it to air dry or if I blow dry it.
I chose the lavender fragrance in strong and I enjoy it but it’s not my favourite. I think that the conditioner is my favourite. I leave it in for 10 min and rice it out and I can already feel my hair being softer than ever.
I am glad that I gave the brand another chance.
Function of Beauty custom body care line
Now like I said Function of Beauty has started a custom body care line this year. And I had the opportunity to test them out too.
I must say right away that I am somebody who neglects the skin on my body way too much. I truly apologize for this to my skin. But I intend to change that this year, or at least what’s left of it.
So they sent me out the Body Wash and Lotion. I chose my body skin type as dry af, and the fragrance peach in strong. And this time around I love the fragrance. Should’ve done peach everything.
At first, I didn’t think much of these. The lotion is lovely and rich but takes a minute to sink in. It feels lovely and I feel like a peach cake every time.
But what I did notice after continuous use is that my skin doesn’t look scaly anymore. I used to have very dry skin on my legs, and now it just looks luscious and healthy.
Would I say that these are exceptional and you can’t find anything alike in the drugstore? No.
I am considering ordering the hair care once I’m out of it, and I think that says a lot when you repurchase a product that was initially sent to you.
Body care? It was fun and I loved it, but I’m not going to throw myself on it and say that it’s unlike anything else. I think I’ll use it up and go to drugstore products. Neutrogena has some lovely body lotions for example.
