My Summer Favourite Products: Skincare and Makeup

It is the end of a season, and what a season it was. Gone are my dreams to bath in the sea, gone is my summer. But I am grateful to be in good health, and next year will definitely be better. I truly hope you are all also in good health and with a positive mindset!

So let’s celebrate the end of a season with a list of my summer favourite products. These are products that I absolutely loved using during the lockdown and heatwave.

Skincare wise I chose the lightest textures that are the easiest to layer. I also cut out a lot on products in my routine, because a short and sweet routine felt just right for the season. There are some old favourites and some new products that I added towards the end of the season. Nonetheless, I love them all and you can find more deets on my Instagram.

I have assembled some makeup products as well, as strange as it may seem. When you wear a mask and sunglasses, makeup seems so pointless. But I did have some occasions to doll up. My go-to products have been mostly creams as I went for the effortless sunkissed look. I love making even a little effort to look more put together.

I find that during the french lockdown which was in march-may, I really neglected myself and I regret that. It’s important to keep a routine and some simple habits during these difficult times and not let ourselves go neither physically nor mentally. Be strong!

Disclaimer: recommendations are based on my own experiences and one product might work for me but not for you. Please do your research to further decide if this is something you wish to try.

Summer favourite:

Skincare

Cosrx is a brand that I haven’t tested out enough. It is the go-to Korean brand for so many people suffering from acne. For me, the higher the hype the less likely I am to purchase from a brand. But this one is definitely worth it! I kick myself for waiting so long to try their products.

Good Molecules is a very affordable brand that launched on Beautylish. They have very good formulations, strive for ethical sourcing and ingredient transparency. Yes, I am on their PR list, however, I love these products and would purchase them with my own money. A summer favourite from them is the Niacinamide Toner.

Another affordable brand is The Inkey List. I have raved about their Vitamin C a few times already and you can find a lot more on my Instagram. Vitamin C will always be in my summer favourite products list.

Abib heartleaf essence has been a new discovery this summer and oh do I love it! Heartleaf or houttuynia cordata has been used in Asia for a very long time for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory proprieties. I have discovered this ingredient through my research for acne effective products. This essence has heartleaf as its first ingredient so you are sure to get the most out of it.

Quarantine and mask-wearing have made makeup a bit pointless at the moment but I do take any and every occasion that comes my way to doll up. I keep it minimal and glowy and these are some products that allow me to achieve it.

Estee Lauder genuine glow blushing cream, apparently it has been discontinued so I won’t be talking much about it. I love the iridescence of it and the colour is just perfect.

Mote liner has been my go-to liner for years now and I particularly love the brown shade. It doesn’t smudge on my hooded eyes and stays put the whole day.

Tower 28 is very new to me. I ordered their Superdew Highlighter Balm, Bronzino in West Coast and the Lip Jelly in Chill. Superdew is just that, a balm, without any iridescent or glitter particles. It gives that natural glossy look. Bronzino is my first ever bronzer and I love how forgiving it is. It is iridescent and the shade works perfectly on my pale skin. A sunkissed look without the sun.

Becca Undereye Brightening Concealer has the most perfect light salmon colour for my pale complexion. I use it on its own and set it with some powder. It does crease through the day but less dramatically than any other concealer. My under eye area just doesn’t stop to crease whatever I do, so I gave up on fixing it.

So those were my favourite products. I tried to keep it short, obviously, the list can go on and on and on.

I hope you enjoyed and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram !
